South Africa is acting on the basis of its signature of the Convention for the Prevention of Genocide. It considers that we are inde facing a genocidal situation! and therefore that this genocide is no longer just a possibility that could occur.
From there, South Africa ask the International Court of Justice! to demand the suspension, or even the total cessation of military operations! in order to avoid the continuation! of this so-call “genocide”, as provid for in the Convention mention.
Thus, a first decision must be taken by the ICJ, in principle in a few weeks. It will determine whether the humanitarian situation in Gaza requires the suspension of all military action or the establishment of an urgent aid programme for the population.
